Lyric of the day - "I'm not an evil man; on Pancake Day, I'll lend you my frying pan". Reminiscent of Billy Bragg at his most urbane. And an extra point for identifying where it's from.

a lovely, lazy, lubricated weekend was spent chez my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. much wine was drunk, much triv was played, much grub was eaten and much arse was sat upon. and to top it all, a bunch of miscellaneous star wars crap i bought at a local auction house ages ago (i spotted on a table a very shabby millenium falcon, something i have long covetted, and payed the tidy sum of seven pounds for it. as i gleefully claimed my hunkajunk, i found the lot included: half an x-wing, a knackered artoo, half a speeder bike, part of a tripod cannon and some of those little vehicles that weren't in the films but were buyable with only a couple of weeks saved pocket-money; and more - a box of ancient scalextric (no cars included) and two tennis rackets were handed over as i tried to leave the building) succesfully sold on ebay for twenty-two smackeroonies. hurrah and, furthermore, huzzah.

Life's a wheeze

I had my first ever asthma attack last week. Not recommending it. I’ve always been a bit wheezy, but the only effect it really had on my life up until now was as a semi-genuine excuse to get out of PE. On Monday I thought for a little while I might die – especially when the pins & needles kicked in around my lips and cheeks. Luckily, and quite obviously, I didn’t cark it – I am simply now the proud owner of a purple inhaler, and a feeling of guilt for having the best part of the last fortnight off sick. It was strange having so much time off – I’d already alphabeticised my books recently, so had to find something equally useful to fill my time.  What better than to re-compile the compilation tapes I used to make annually in a digital format, therefore for the first time “downloading” music off of the interweb. Needless to say, I feel soiled – but who’d have thought Echobelly B-sides would be so easy to find?

PS - hello world!
